Making Kin at the End of the World
October 12 - November 8, 2026
Access Gallery, Vancouver, BC

The juried and curated group exhibition explores how we reconnect and build relationships across differences in a time shaped by technological upheaval, political oppression, climate change, displacement, and mass extinction. It invites us to imagine new forms of kinship with one another, our communities, and the more-than-human world.

Marley Kong’s The Young Children (The Angel of Angel Island) depicts an early 20th Century scene in the Immigration Station on Angel Island in San Francisco Bay, California. Highlighted in fluorescent colours against original black and white backgrounds, a group of women and infants are accompanied by Deaconess Katharine Maurer (1881–1962), a dedicated social worker who provided aid and advocacy to the detainees and thus known as “The Angel of Angel Island.”
